Components of Recertification/MOC©

  1. Home Study Examination: Candidates must achieve a passing score of 80% on the Home Study Examination in order to be eligible to sit for the Final Examination. Candidates who fail the initial Home Study Examination are entitled to retest. The open-book exam covers basic and clinical science.
  2. Final Examination: Recertification/MOC© candidates must attain an absolute minimum score on the Final Examination in order to successfully recertify. The exam is administered via computer at Pearson VUE test centers across the nation. The exam items focus on clinical science which can be answered correctly based on clinical experience without reference to textbooks or journals. All exam items on the Recertification/MOC© Final Examination reflect the clinical science portion of the current ABAI item classification list. ABAI anticipates that most Diplomates seeking Recertification/MOC© will be successful.
  3. Continuing Medical Education (CME): Candidates need to obtain a minimum of 75 credits of Allergy/Immunology CME from accredited organizations every three years during the MOCİ process to fulfill the lifelong learning and self-assessment component. Proof of CME credits must be submitted to ABAI at the end of each three year cycle.
