Register for the ABAI PQRS incentive program courtesy of ABMS.

The ABAI MOC program has been approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) as an incentive program under the Physician Quality Reporting System. Physicians who choose to participate in this program must complete MOC projects more frequently than outlined in the ABAI MOC program (see outline below). For participation in the program, physicians will receive a 0.5% increase in Medicare reimbursement through 2014. Beginning in 2015, the 0.5% increase in reimbursement will no longer be available and physicians not meeting MOC requirements will receive a decrease of 1 - 2% in Medicare payments.

Register to participate in the program.

The ABAI has defined more frequently as follows:

  • Choose to complete Part II or Part III more frequently:
    • Part II: Diplomates who wish to participate will be required to complete 25 CME credits per year.
    • Part III: Exam will be taken in year 8 or 9 rather than year 10.
  • Complete a practice assessment/quality improvement module.
    • Part IV: Physicians who participate in the Physician Quality Reporting System Maintenance of Certification Program Incentive will need to complete one (1) practice improvement module in the reporting year (year requesting incentive), including a patient experience of care survey. Physicians must complete a total of two (2) rather than one (1) practice improvement module over five years.
