Recertification/MOC©

Once a candidate successfully completes the ABAI Recertification/MOCİ process, a certificate is issued and the Diplomate is recertified for ten more years.

Recertification/MOC© Candidate Requirements

Registration for the 2009 Recertification/MOC© examination is open from December 15, 2008 through January 31, 2009.

Candidates are eligible to sit for the ABAI Recertification/MOC© Examination if all of the following criteria are met:

  1. ABAI Certification: Candidates must be previously certified by the ABAI. Recertification/MOC© with ABIM or ABP is encouraged but not required.

  2. CME Credits Upon initial certification, all Diplomates must complete 75 CME credits every three years to fulfill the requirements of Maintenance of Certification (MOC) as per the ABMS. Proof of credits must be submitted to ABAI.
  3. (2) Recommendation Letters (PDF): Candidate must solicit a letter of recommendation from two individuals to verify the medical and professional standing and clinical competence of the candidate as a specialist in allergy/immunology.
    Acceptable references are:
    • ABAI-certified Diplomates in the community
    • Chief of Medicine, Pediatrics, or chiefs of community hospitals
    • officers of state or regional societies
  4. Valid Medical License: Candidates must submit photocopies of valid, current, unrestricted licenses to practice medicine in the United States, in territories, or Canada. If licenses are held in more than one jurisdiction, all licenses held must meet this requirement. Candidates with any revoked, suspended, probational, or conditional licenses at the time of application or examination will not be admitted to the Recertification/MOC© Examination or become recertified. Should there be extenuating circumstances, a written explanation is necessary.
